Yikes!!!

A dear friend of mine recently had her baby (after 3 hours of pushing no less!!) The on call OB came in at one point and was in one way or another trying to get her nurses and midwife to rush her baby's birth by doing an unnecessary intervention. I think she's unsure of what that would have been.
He said "I have another mom who needs a c-section (for no progression for *unknown amount by me* of hours after her water broke), but I can't give it to her until you have your baby..."

So in other words...

Dear Friend was going to get an unnecessary intervention of some sort...

not for her wellbeing,
or for her baby's wellbeing.

But because this on call OB was needing to give another mom a c-section because the OTHER MOM was on the clock, and not progressing.
How sad and scary is that?? That other birthing moms could dictate the type of care that YOU receive??

Thankfully friend had angel warriors for nurses and they chewed out the OB. Friend started praying OUT LOUD and the OB threw up his arms and left the room.
Friend had her perfectly healthy baby with no interventions needed.

That is horrible. Using guilt and scare tactics that she was harming another woman and baby by taking too long?

He wanted me to get an episiotomy because baby's head was slowing up the process.

The mom who was getting the c-section had a sadder story...she was going on 30 ish? hours after ROM and not progressing very much. So they had turned her pitocin up so much that the baby was in distress. Instead of backing off the pit, they decided to the c-section. My midwife and nurse were upset at the OB's choice.

The best part is MY midwife and nurse wouldn't let him scare me. He was implying to me what he wanted, but I was as Michael says "in labor land." Plus, I had my bubble of peace up against him, so I had no clue what he was talking about. My midwife ignored him, so I knew I could too!
